Product Description
Two-way Flexible Conveyor Chain MC 33 DOUBLE FLEX CHAIN
MC 33 DOUBLE FLEX CHAIN is a detachable-type chain with a rugged, double flex design for both horizontal turning and conventional articulation. It retains its pulling power around the curves with center line radii as small as 18 inches. Its wide-web top design provides more than CHINAMFG carrying surface. Available in HZPT File-Hard Promal(Duramal) , MC-33 Chain is interchangeable with similar 2.500 inch chain of other manufacturers. This chain is called “5550” chain too. MC-33 Chain’s flexibility provides a wide variety of applications in dairy, bottling, and related industries. It operates in the direction of its links’ open ends on Brutaloy sprockets.

What are the factors to consider when selecting a double chain for an application?
When selecting a double chain for a specific application, several critical factors should be considered to ensure optimal performance and longevity:
1. Load Requirements: Determine the maximum load the chain will be subjected to during operation. Choose a double chain with a suitable tensile strength and working load capacity to handle the expected loads.
2. Speed and RPM: Consider the rotational speed (RPM) of the chain and the application’s speed requirements. High-speed applications may require special high-speed double chains with lower mass and improved balance.
3. Environment: Evaluate the environmental conditions in which the chain will operate. Factors such as temperature, humidity, presence of dust, dirt, chemicals, or corrosive substances can influence chain material selection and lubrication requirements.
4. Alignment and Tension: Proper alignment of sprockets and chain tension is crucial for chain longevity and efficient power transmission. Misalignment can lead to premature wear and reduced performance.
5. Chain Size and Pitch: Select the appropriate chain size and pitch that matches the requirements of the application and the sprockets used.
6. Lubrication: Consider the lubrication method and frequency required for the application. Adequate lubrication is essential to reduce friction, wear, and extend the chain’s life.
7. Wear and Corrosion Resistance: Depending on the application’s conditions, choose a chain with appropriate coatings or materials that offer wear and corrosion resistance.
8. Maintenance and Accessibility: Evaluate the ease of chain maintenance and accessibility for tension adjustments and lubrication. Applications with limited access may require special maintenance considerations.
9. Cost and Budget: Consider the overall cost of the chain, including initial purchase, maintenance, and replacement. Balancing cost with quality and performance is essential.
10. Application Specific Requirements: Some applications may have specific requirements, such as flame-retardant properties, anti-static characteristics, or food-grade materials. Ensure the selected double chain meets these specific needs.
By carefully evaluating these factors and understanding the application’s demands, you can make an informed decision when selecting a double chain, ensuring it meets the performance and reliability expectations of your particular application.
Can double chains be used in agricultural machinery and equipment?
Yes, double chains can be used in a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment. Here are some key points to consider:
- Durable Construction: Double chains are designed to withstand heavy loads and harsh operating conditions, making them well-suited for the demanding nature of agricultural applications.
- High Tensile Strength: Agricultural machinery often requires power transmission systems that can handle high torque and heavy loads. Double chains offer excellent tensile strength, allowing them to efficiently transfer power in agricultural equipment.
- Resistance to Wear: Agricultural environments can be abrasive due to the presence of soil, dust, and debris. Double chains are typically made from durable materials and can withstand the wear and tear associated with agricultural applications.
- Versatility: Double chains are available in various sizes and configurations, making them suitable for different types of agricultural machinery such as tractors, combines, harvesters, and tillage equipment.
- Reliable Power Transmission: Double chains provide reliable and efficient power transmission, ensuring that the agricultural machinery operates effectively and performs its intended tasks.
- Ease of Maintenance: With proper lubrication and regular maintenance, double chains can have a long service life in agricultural machinery. This helps minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
Whether it’s for driving conveyor belts, operating mechanisms, or power transmission in agricultural equipment, double chains are a reliable choice. Their robust construction, high tensile strength, resistance to wear, and versatility make them well-suited for the demanding conditions and heavy-duty requirements of agricultural machinery.
Can double chains be used in high-speed applications?
Yes, double chains can be used in high-speed applications, but there are certain considerations to keep in mind to ensure their safe and efficient operation.
When using double chains in high-speed applications, it is important to select a chain that is specifically designed and rated for high-speed operation. High-speed chains are typically manufactured with precision and high-quality materials to withstand the stresses and forces experienced at elevated speeds.
Here are some key factors to consider when using double chains in high-speed applications:
- Chain Type: Choose a double chain type that is suitable for high-speed operation. Certain chain designs, such as those with lightweight construction and optimized profiles, are specifically engineered for high-speed applications.
- Material Selection: Consider using double chains made from high-strength and wear-resistant materials. These materials can withstand the higher forces and reduce the risk of wear and fatigue at high speeds.
- Lubrication: Proper lubrication is crucial for high-speed chain operation. Use lubricants that are specifically designed for high-speed applications and ensure that the chain is adequately lubricated to minimize friction and heat generation.
- Tension and Preload: Maintain proper tension and preload in the double chain to ensure smooth engagement with the sprockets. Proper tensioning helps prevent excessive vibration, noise, and premature wear at high speeds.
- Bearing Support: Ensure that the chain is properly supported by high-quality bearings and sprockets designed for high-speed operation. The bearings should be able to handle the increased rotational speeds and provide smooth motion.
- Alignment and Balance: Proper alignment of the chain and sprockets is critical for high-speed applications. Misalignment can lead to increased wear, vibration, and potential chain derailment. Ensure the sprockets are aligned and balanced to minimize any unwanted forces on the chain.
- Regular Inspection and Maintenance: Regularly inspect the double chain for signs of wear, fatigue, or damage. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, tension adjustment, and replacing worn-out components to ensure the chain’s reliable performance at high speeds.
It is important to consult the manufacturer’s guidelines and specifications for the specific double chain type and application requirements. Additionally, working with experienced engineers or chain suppliers can provide valuable insights and assistance in selecting the appropriate double chain for high-speed applications.
